Treat your teeth to flossing in style - but less expensive and better for the environment!
Lets be honest, no one likes the idea of rubbing thin strings of plastic through their teeth every night. I would also strongly recommend against using flossing aids like plastic picks or single-use floss holders. I've seen too many of those escaping the waste stream around the world and your pearly whites deserve better than that. Turns out there is indeed a better way to floss!
There are many brands out there that are producing great products like this, but my favorite so far that I've used is Dental Lace. It looks like, feels like, and tastes like regular mint floss. The floss itself is made of 100% Mulberry silk (yes, let yourself feel luxurious) and it comes in an adorable small glass container with a stainless steel lid. Also great for travel!
The best part of that you can purchase refills of the spools of floss from them and according to the company, "The refill bags are certified compostable and the boxes are 100% post-consumer paperboard." You never have to throw out one of those tiny plastic boxes when you come to the end of your floss again!
Dental Lace does have a vegan option as well, but unfortunately it does contain floss that is 98% polyester (the non-vegan one is 100% mulberry silk), but it appears that the company is actively researching a better alternative.
If you happen to be in the UK or know someone that can receive shipments there, I've also really enjoyed floss from a company there called Tevra. Their line is fully vegan, comes in a similar small glass container, and they also have a refillable option.
I still haven't found a wholesaler in the area, but I keep asking Mom's to start carrying the containers and the refills!
